A teacher stands in front of a new class and tells them what this room is for. Andrew Hacket, a second-grade teacher himself, writes the speech as a picture book.

- Reviewed in Kirkus Reviews and School Library Journal
Page by page, the teacher's voice sets out what will happen in this classroom: mistakes will be made, hard things will be tried, differences will be noticed and welcomed, and nobody will do any of it alone. Lin's rounded, bright-colored children fill the room. The publisher calls it a book for teachers as much as for students, and a framework for the classroom the text describes.
Teachers can read it aloud on the first day, and parents and caregivers can read it with a child who is nervous about a new school or a new grade. School Library Journal suggests returning to it through the year and describes back matter for teachers on doing so. The publisher calls it a classroom manifesto. This is the version with pictures.
