Hardcover, published February 3, 2026; 272 pages.
Content note: a missing teenager, deaths and disappearances.
Single mother Jenna crosses to Athelsea after her daughter Chloe vanishes from their London home, frightened and changed in the two weeks before she went. The villagers mention the Bone Queen, a vengeful woman of local legend, only under their breath, and some would rather the story died out entirely. As Jenna learns who the legend has claimed before, she loses the ability to tell what she imagines from what is really there.
This Minotaur hardcover suits readers of folk horror and psychological thrillers who like a small community with something to hide. The book does not settle early whether the danger comes from the legend or from Jenna's own fear.
