The Saint of Silence buys secrets, and Leena's is worth more than most. Heba Al-Wasity's gothic fantasy follows a young woman who sees the dead into a dangerous bargain with him.

Readical Key Points

  • Gothic fantasy with a slow-burn romance, published as part of The Weavingshaw Trilogy
  • A Victorian-style fantasy world that takes up refugee rights and the gap between rich and poor, as Library Journal describes it
  • Reviewed in Publishers Weekly and Library Journal
  • Hardcover, 464 pages, Del Rey (2026); the publisher describes an illustrated case, full-color endpapers and a foil jacket

Leena has hidden one thing since she was seventeen: the dead are visible to her. When her brother becomes ill and a remedy costs more than she has, she turns to the Saint of Silence, a merchant who pays for confessions and pays most for the worst of them. Her gift proves far more valuable to him than she expected, and the deal they strike leads her to Weavingshaw, a cursed house on the moors where the Saint's own secrets begin to surface.

Readers of gothic fantasy and slow-burn romance will find both here, in a world of ghosts, curses and an estate on the moors. Leena came to sell one secret. The man who bought it is keeping several of his own.
